Kids & Teens
Maintaining good health starts with the youngest of us. A consistent, playful approach from babies and toddlers through to teenagers ensures that your children stay healthy and that their jaws develop ideally.
Good to know
We know that it can often be a struggle to get children to brush their teeth every day. Adults tell us all sorts of ways to get their children to have clean teeth. As we have children ourselves, we know that it is often easier said than done. Nevertheless, we can only tell you that it is more than worth it if you don’t give up, keep at it and encourage your children to lead a healthy and tooth-friendly lifestyle. Being a role model yourself is a key factor in this. Time and time again, we find that children are too often “spoiled” with sweets, with sweets to be found in every nook and cranny. This does not mean that they should not eat sweets at all, but it is advisable to keep the dose very low. It is also a misconception that fruit, for example, is the better sugar alternative. Sugar is sugar and therefore attacks our tooth enamel. It is ideal if you take your children to the dentist from an early age. Try out the chair, get to know the dentist and the team, experience the smells and atmosphere of the practice. It should not be a must, but a natural routine to go to the dentist for a check-up. The more consistently and regularly this is done, the more likely it is that no “drilling” will be necessary because daily oral hygiene, dietary habits etc. can be pointed out at an early stage and tips can be given.
How does treatment work?
Your child’s dental situation will be assessed in an initial appointment. Ideally, your child will let you look inside their mouth. It is also common for children to take one to three attempts before they allow themselves to be looked at. Based on the examination, we can decide together whether and what action is required. We always endeavor to treat your child with particular sensitivity and to take their needs and fears into account. As there are always misalignments in children or adolescents, we also offer anesthesia treatments. As with adults, a specialist/anesthetist takes care of the pre- and postoperative care as well as the anesthesia during the treatment. This is all done as gently as possible. We work exclusively with established professionals whose daily work consists of administering anesthesia in order to give you and your child the greatest possible safety. As a rule, a pediatric consultation with the anesthesiologist is recommended in advance. However, this will be clarified directly. For adolescents, our practice also offers the option of teeth straightening. This is done using invisible braces. Dr. Robert Bauder has been working with an innovative system for more than 15 years and has already helped many young people to achieve a beautiful, healthy smile. We would be happy to advise you on this.
Summarized
We offer a wide range of dental treatments for children and adolescents, from tooth straightening to the treatment of decayed teeth for anxious patients under anesthesia. In a consultation and introductory meeting, we can clarify what is needed and how this can best be tackled together.
