CAD-CAM technology has also been used in modern dentistry for a number of years. CAD-CAM (Computer-Aided-Design, Computer-Aided-Machined) has long been known in industry as a high-tech process for manufacturing workpieces. This process has also been further developed in dentistry for around 20 years. As a result of continuous further development, this technology has become increasingly practical and promising. In our dental practice in Kitzbühel, we have been using digital CAD-CAM procedures since 1999 for the immediate restoration of damaged teeth in need of restoration with ceramic restorations. It is common practice for us to provide teeth in need of restoration with high-quality ceramic restorations in just one session. We have several high-end CAD-CAM systems at our disposal. Quality
The technology just described has already been perfected to such an extent that the ceramic parts produced in-house are in no way inferior or even superior to the more expensive, hand-made ceramic restorations in terms of accuracy of fit.
The material quality (high-performance ceramic) of the blanks is better in terms of homogeneity and fracture resistance compared to laboratory-made ceramic restorations due to the fact that it is an industrially produced ceramic.

How does treatment work?
In just one session, usually within an hour:
- Preparation of teeth (removal of old fillings and caries)
- Optical impression of the remaining tooth with a special camera
- Virtual 3D design on the computer provides an excellent visualization of the remaining tooth, the adjacent teeth and the restoration
- CAM milling of the ceramic restoration from a blank individually selected according to shade
- Fitting and adhesive bonding of the ceramic restoration in the same session
